Drama Review : Akai Ito (The Red Thread of Fate)

I abandoned my blog for quite some time because I didn’t know what to write. Since I’m sooo into movies and dramas now, so I decide to write reviews about latest things I’ve watched.

I’ll start from Japanese drama I watched not so long ago, titled Akai Ito, which means the red thread of fate. I watched this drama because the editor of this site recommended this drama. Since the editor also picked Kimi Ni Todokke as a must-watch, I thought that we might have the same taste, so I gave Akai Ito a try. Here’s the link for details of the drama.

As a romanticist, all things about fate always piqued my interest, so does this drama. One day, I even waited till 2 am for my download to be finished because I was really curious and couldn’t wait to watch the next episode. Overall, this drama is good. It involved so many issues in its story, the main theme was of course, love  and fate, but it also told a story about drugs addiction, domestic violence, and divorce. Now that I think about it again, it’s those side issues that made me stick to the drama till the end though there were things in the story that frustrated me.

If I have to pick 1 most annoying character in this drama, it would be A-kun, the hero himself. I found his character very annoying . He’s actually nice and caring person, but he kept everything for himself, decided everything on his own, and did things without explaining to others around him because he didn’t want to bother/worry people. He had good intention, but I found this kinda people were selfish, they did everything on their own because they didn’t want to be a burden and hurt others, but in the end they hurt others around them by remaining silent. So people, silence is not always gold.

Regarding acting, I’m not that good at determining which actors are good and which aren’t. In this drama the only actor I found impressive was Kimura Ryo, he appeared in so many famous dramas, too bad he never really gets the lead role.
